Nearly 90% of respondents have exercised remote working during the outbreak of COVID-19, over 60% of respondents’ companies have increased their spending on cloud technology this year
12 November 2020, Hong Kong – Cloud Solution Provider Superhub today announced the results of the “Cloud Adoption Survey” (“the survey”). Working remotely has been rising in popularity under the influence of COVID-19. This survey aims to explore the remote working status of enterprise in Hong Kong and its cloud technology adoption. Superhub conducted a research study through phone, email and social media from July to September this year. Over 300 responses from local enterprises were successfully collected. Respondents cover a wide variety of sectors including marketing, financial services, information technology, manufacturing and logistics industries.
Study highlights the wide adoption of remote work measure among enterprises
According to the survey, many companies have adopted remote working or mobile working. Nearly 90% (88%) of respondents have worked at home from February to April this year. Meanwhile, some respondents have expressed worries about the challenges of remote working. Nearly 40% (36%) of respondents mainly concerned about the security to access company networks and servers remotely. Although more than half of the respondents (65%) perceived that cloud technologies can facilitate remote working with better security, 62% care about the data protection and compliance management of cloud adoption.
Reliable cloud solution provides a seamless work-from-home experience
Employees need to access company information and documents easily and securely, while connecting with remote counterparts from different locations. As remote working or mobile working is becoming increasingly popular in Hong Kong, over 60% (64%) of respondents’ companies have increased their spending on cloud technology. The most widely deployed cloud technologies include cloud application, cloud file server and SSLVPN, with an adoption rate of 50% to 55% before the pandemic. After the pandemic, the adoption rate of these applications increases 7% to 11% which enables smoother work-from-home experience. Among all cloud applications, online meeting experiences the highest growth rate, rising from 44% before the pandemic to 78% after the pandemic.
Remote working will become the new norm
The survey reflected that over 60% (66%) of respondents hoped their company can implement flexible work-from-home arrangement to all staff when needed. Over half (54%) of them affirmed the productivity of work from home. They believed that working from home can save traveling time and may work for extended hours unconsciously. On the other hand, the pandemic drives companies to strengthen their technical solutions to support work-from-home arrangement. This changes companies’ traditional mindset and makes them realize that work-from-home or remote work are as efficient as working in the office.

The survey showed that among respondents considering cloud brings significant benefit to the company, more than 70% (72%) focus on the benefits of better security, productivity and efficiency. Therefore, as Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider, Superhub is dedicated to help customers to create mobility workspace with advanced cloud technologies.
